This is a collection of dance tunes that I could imagine being played over the PA between bands at the DIY shows in Sydney that I grew up going to and playing at.

I wanted the songs to sound like the cassette mixtapes of hip-hop, hardcore punk, and heavy metal that I listened to on my walkmans and boom-boxes growing up.

The tracks are saturated with delicately engineered distortion, reverb, chorus, and phasing (that Sydney underground sound).

No samples subsume the others: the sonic space between the compressed song snippets sing with each other. The feedback swims in the room and mixes with the dissonant frequencies to craft unique harmonies and rhythms; I thought of it like being in a room and listening to the interaction between the signals coming from the high gain amplified guitars and acoustic drums at a (good) rock show.

Where samples needed some coaxing together a bit more, or the song just needed some more crunch, I played in some synths, or sequenced something, or superimposed beats.
